What you will do

• Design, build, and operate streaming services on Kafka, Spring Boot, and Spring Cloud Stream using AI agents for scaffolding, testing, and iteration.
• Develop and manage Kafka connectors for data integration from DynamoDB, S3, NSQ, and custom sources/sinks.
• Own schema management, evolution, and code generation across Protobuf, Schema Registry, and publishing pipelines.
• Drive migrations like MSK to Confluent Cloud and NSQ to Kafka, including dual-cluster patterns and cutover playbooks.
• Build monitoring, alerting, and operational tooling with DataDog, PagerDuty, and Prometheus.
• Write Terraform infrastructure as code, participate in on-call rotation, incident response, and mentor teammates on AI-native practices.

Requirements

• 6+ years backend software engineering experience
• Strong proficiency with Java and Spring Boot
• Production experience with Apache Kafka or similar streaming platform
• Solid distributed systems knowledge: consistency, fault tolerance, replication, delivery semantics
• Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform IaC
• AI-native style: prompting excellence, critical validation of AI output, agentic decomposition, parallel workstreams, troubleshooting with AI
• Problem-solving mindset, ownership, direct communication, collaboration

Nice to have

• Go, gRPC, Protocol Buffers, Kafka Streams/Flink
• Confluent Platform/Cloud, CI/CD with GitHub Actions
• Observability tooling like DataDog, Prometheus, Grafana
• Prior platform migrations or LLM evals/prompt libraries
