Software Engineer – Developer and Production Systems Support (Java)

Location: Hybrid role with onsite support at customer sites in Sterling and Herndon, Virginia, United States

Salary: $99,000–$206,000 annually, based on qualifications, experience, and expertise.

What you will do

• Provide onsite support for Java-based web applications running in a microservices architecture.
• Troubleshoot operational incidents, perform root cause analysis, resolve critical system issues, and coordinate additional technical support when needed.
• Integrate software with legacy systems and third-party platforms while meeting stringent security requirements.
• Support MongoDB and MariaDB operations, query optimization, data flow, and scalability.
• Develop enhancements, bug fixes, and performance improvements for Rocky Linux-based platforms.
• Test, deploy, monitor, and maintain systems across virtualization platforms, cloud environments, and RabbitMQ-based distributed services.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience covering development, integration, and operational troubleshooting.
• Proficiency with Java web applications, microservices integration, MongoDB, MariaDB, and RabbitMQ.
• Experience with Linux environments, particularly Rocky Linux, and cloud services including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Experience with virtualization technologies and Python for automation, scripting, and integration, plus strong customer and cross-functional communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting intelligence community or defense customers.
• Secure coding and cybersecurity experience in mission-critical environments.
• Knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab.
• Cloud certification and experience with Docker or Kubernetes.
