TL;DR

Seat CAE Engineer (Automotive): Performing structural analysis for automotive seat programs at the vehicle system level with an accent on Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and performance evaluation. Focus on designing robust engineering solutions for seat/seat belt anchorage strength and impact performance.

Location: Hybrid (Warren, MI). Candidates are expected to report to the office at least 3 days per week. No immigration sponsorship provided; must be authorized to work in the US.

What you will do

  • Develop and execute FEA plans and subsystem models for assigned projects using NX math.
  • Perform structural analysis for seat/seat belt anchorage strength, child restraint, and impact scenarios (front, rear, head, whiplash).
  • Correlate analysis results with physical test data to update FEA models and procedures.
  • Collaborate with internal resources and CAE suppliers to meet program milestones and deliverables.
  • Generate technical solutions and lead seat designs to meet strict performance requirements.
  • Implement engineering changes and balance complex system requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience in automotive seat systems and related mechanisms.
  • 2+ years of experience in Linear Analysis (Nastran, Optistruct or equivalent) and Non-Linear Analysis (LS Dyna, Abaqus).
  • Proficiency with NX.
  • Thorough understanding of material properties as inputs for CAE tools.
  • No requirement for immigration sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice to have

  • Master's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Knowledge of GM design math systems and automotive physical test methods.
  • Familiarity with production processes such as foundry, forging, pressed metal, and machine tool activities.
  • Strong understanding of engineering mechanics, physics, and metallurgy.
