What you will do

• Identify and prioritize high-impact technical and product problems to drive business outcomes.
• Design and guide scalable backend and data systems, owning architectural decisions across services.
• Ensure systems remain efficient, reliable, and scalable under real-world load conditions.
• Lead execution and drive alignment across engineers and stakeholders through influence.
• Partner with Product teams to ensure technical implementation aligns with business goals.
• Delegate effectively to scale personal impact through the engineering team.

Requirements

• Must be based in Spain, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Malta, Portugal, Serbia, South Africa, Tunisia, Turkey, or the UK.
• Deep expertise in relational databases (SQL), including query optimization, indexing, and concurrency control.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, including message brokers, microservices, and load balancing.
• Proficient in Node.js and TypeScript for backend development.
• Working knowledge of React to understand performance implications and integration points.
• Ability to lead through clarity and reasoning rather than authority.
