What you will do
- Identify and prioritize high-impact technical and product problems to drive business outcomes.
- Design and guide scalable backend and data systems, owning architectural decisions across services.
- Ensure systems remain efficient, reliable, and scalable under real-world load conditions.
- Lead execution and drive alignment across engineers and stakeholders through influence.
- Partner with Product teams to ensure technical implementation aligns with business goals.
- Delegate effectively to scale personal impact through the engineering team.
Requirements
- Must be based in Spain, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Malta, Portugal, Serbia, South Africa, Tunisia, Turkey, or the UK.
- Deep expertise in relational databases (SQL), including query optimization, indexing, and concurrency control.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, including message brokers, microservices, and load balancing.
- Proficient in Node.js and TypeScript for backend development.
- Working knowledge of React to understand performance implications and integration points.
- Ability to lead through clarity and reasoning rather than authority.

- Strong pragmatic decision-making skills (80/20 mindset) to avoid over-engineering.
