TL;DR
Lead Additive Manufacturing Applications Development Engineer (LPBF/Aerospace): Developing and optimizing additive manufacturing workflows for aerospace and defense components with an accent on LPBF solutions, DfAM, and internal automation tools. Focus on scaling repeatability across programs, implementing simulation for de-risking builds, and leading technical teams through the transition from prototype to full-rate production.
Location: Los Angeles, CA. Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (ITAR requirements). Relocation support may be provided based on business need.
Salary: $150,000 - $220,000

What you will do
- Lead DfAM efforts including build orientation, topology optimization, and lattice design.
- Perform AM CAM work, including build file development and process parameter selection for PBF-LB systems.
- Design and develop internal automation tools to streamline workflows and scale repeatability.
- Apply AM simulation tools for thermal, distortion, and structural validation to de-risk builds.
- Coordinate end-to-end manufacturability, from parameter selection to post-processing and qualification.
- Manage assigned projects independently and collaborate cross-functionally with sales, engineering, and operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Materials, Aerospace, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- 8+ years of experience in metal additive manufacturing applications or process engineering.
- 2+ years of experience leading technical teams.
- Hands-on expertise with laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) and production ramp.
- Must comply with ITAR requirements: U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual.
Nice to have
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience in regulated aerospace or defense manufacturing environments with structured qualification processes.
- Proven track record of developing standardized application playbooks and design guidelines.
