TL;DR

Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Aerospace): Developing and optimizing manufacturing, installation, and maintenance processes for safety-critical automated aviation systems with an accent on quality, regulatory compliance, and scalability. Focus on hands-on installation, conducting DFx reviews, and establishing infrastructure to transition products from prototype to production.

Location: Must be based in or able to work onsite in San Martin, CA and Mountain View, CA

Salary: $167,000 – $230,000

What you will do

  • Oversee installation, inspection, maintenance, and testing of mechanical and avionics assemblies.
  • Conduct design for excellence (DFx) reviews to ensure cost-efficiency and producibility.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed manufacturability and risk mitigation into product development.
  • Develop and maintain compliance with quality management systems and airworthiness directives.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions to ensure schedule and quality targets.
  • Manage the supply of tools and parts necessary for aircraft servicing and maintenance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or aerospace engineering or 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in aircraft design, manufacturing, or testing.
  • 2+ years of experience leading complex projects in aerospace, autonomy, or robotics.
  • 2+ years of experience with CAD and PLM software (e.g., Altium, NX, Teamcenter).
  • Must be a U.S. person or otherwise authorized to access export-controlled technology.
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time.

Nice to have

  • FAA-accredited Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate.
  • Experience with AS9100, 14 CFR Part 21, or 14 CFR Part 145.
  • Knowledge of turbine-powered aircraft systems and P&W PT6A engines.
  • Previous leadership or management experience.
