What you will do

• Transform large datasets into actionable metrics and attributes using SQL and Spark.
• Develop repeatable methods for mining insights from unstructured data using Jupyter notebooks, Looker, and Heap.
• Design and surface precise business metrics to inform the company's strategic roadmap.
• Build the data context layer, including schemas and metric definitions, to power agentic analytics workflows.
• Advise business teams on the implementation of scalable, robust telemetry and analytics tracking.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
• Up to 4 years of experience (including internships) transforming large datasets into business insights.
• Proficiency in wrangling data using SQL.
• Experience applying scientific programming languages (Python, R, Julia, etc.) to data analysis problems.
• Strong foundation in relational databases, data modeling, statistical methods, and probability theory.
• Must be based in or able to work onsite (3 days/week) in Oakland, California.

Nice to have

• Experience with open source analytics tools such as Airflow or DBT.
• Experience with distributed processing technologies like Spark or MapReduce.
• Experience applying machine learning or statistical modeling methods to real-world problems.
• Familiarity with Git or similar DVCS.
