TL;DR
Principal Software Engineer - Signals & Algorithm Interfaces (Python/C++) (real-time medical signal and algorithm integration): Architecting real-time signal pipelines, algorithm execution frameworks, and data contracts for the Affera Prism Mapping platform with an accent on deterministic performance, DSP constraints, and clinical reliability. Focus on designing research-to-production pathways, solving cross-domain integration problems, and leading architecture across software, hardware, quality, product, and clinical teams.

Location: Newton, Massachusetts, United States; minimum 4 days per week onsite

Salary: $152,800–$229,200 USD annually, plus eligibility for the hirify.global Incentive Plan.

What you will do

  • Lead the architecture for algorithm integration into the Affera Prism Mapping platform.
  • Design real-time signal pipelines, algorithm execution frameworks, and data contracts connecting hardware, algorithms, mapping, and UI.
  • Define multi-release technical direction, engineering standards, and the partnership model between algorithm development and production engineering.
  • Lead major subsystems and cross-cutting technical initiatives involving real-time guarantees, determinism, and clinical performance.
  • Drive technical alignment across software, systems, quality, product, hardware, and clinical stakeholders.
  • Mentor engineers, conduct design reviews, communicate technical tradeoffs, and resolve complex cross-domain problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 7 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with at least 5 years, or a PhD with at least 3 years.
  • Professional experience with Python and C++.
  • Experience with software architecture for complex, multi-component systems.
  • Ability to work onsite in Newton, Massachusetts, at least 4 days per week.
  • For degrees earned outside the United States, the degree must satisfy the requirements of 8 C.F.R. Β§ 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A).
  • U.S. work authorization sponsorship is offered for Principal-level roles and above; sponsorship includes H-1B, TN, and J visas.

Nice to have

  • Deep expertise in real-time signal and algorithm pipelines, DSP fundamentals, latency, determinism, and sample integrity.
  • Experience building research-to-production pathways for algorithm development.
  • Experience delivering real-time, device-integrated, or networked systems.
  • Experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives and defining architecture across teams.
  • Experience in regulated environments and using AI tools to improve engineering productivity and quality.
