Environmental Scientist/Geologist

Location: Minneapolis/Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA. The ideal candidate is located in the Twin Cities area; a hybrid work arrangement may be considered. This is primarily a field-based role requiring approximately 50–70% field work. U.S. work authorization is required.

Salary: $79,400–$119,500 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.

What you will do

• Conduct environmental fieldwork and reporting for energy infrastructure, transportation, redevelopment, utility, and construction projects.
• Manage or support Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments and environmental investigations.
• Author or assist with Phase I ESA, Phase II drilling investigation, Response Action Plan, Construction Contingency Plan, and construction monitoring reports.
• Conduct construction monitoring, including field screening, field reporting, soil and groundwater sampling, impacted-media management, documentation, and operation of field equipment such as PIDs and 4-gas meters.
• Support desktop contamination research and development of Construction Contingency Plans and Health and Safety Plans for energy infrastructure projects.
• Collaborate with project teams to complete and review work within scope, budget, and schedule.

Requirements

• B.S. in Geology, Environmental Science, Earth Science, Environmental Chemistry, or a closely related field.
• At least 3 years of professional environmental experience and applicable due diligence experience in Minnesota.
• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification and ASTM E1527 Phase I Environmental Site Assessment Practices for Commercial Real Estate certification.
• Experience generating environmental reports and implementing RAPs, CCPs, Phase I ESAs, and/or Phase II ESAs.
• Ability to operate and maintain field equipment, including PIDs and 4-gas meters.
• Experience with environmental construction monitoring, GPS data collection, soil and groundwater sampling, soil classification, field screening, and daily field reports.
• Ability to read and interpret geological maps and databases; analyze, organize, and interpret data from multiple sources; and produce clear written deliverables.
• Strong organizational and task-management skills, adaptability, ability to work under pressure and time constraints, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision or as part of a larger project team.
• Willingness to conduct fieldwork as needed, approximately 50–70% depending on project and program needs, with excellent oral communication and technical writing skills.
