Senior Director, Intellectual Property Counsel (AI)

Salary: $217,300–$325,900 annually

What you will do

• Develop and execute global patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret strategies aligned with hirify.global’s business objectives.
• Advise executive leadership, product, engineering, AI, marketing, and go-to-market teams on intellectual property matters.
• Lead invention recognition, patent filing, prosecution, maintenance, monetization, enforcement, and defense activities.
• Establish responsible AI-enabled legal workflows, including AI-assisted patent drafting, prior-art research, claim charting, and portfolio analytics.
• Manage IP licensing, technology transactions, open-source compliance, M&A due diligence, and IP-related disputes.
• Lead a small team and manage outside counsel, budgets, IP systems, and enterprise education programs.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• At least 15 years of intellectual property law experience, including meaningful in-house experience at a technology company.
• Deep knowledge of U.S. patent law, prosecution, portfolio strategy, NPE defense, and IP monetization.
• Experience managing global patent and trademark portfolios, outside counsel, and NPE/PAE risk.
• Expertise in IP issues involving artificial intelligence, machine learning, generative AI, agentic systems, training data, model weights, and AI transactions.
• Broad experience with trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, open-source licensing, commercial transactions, and M&A.

Nice to have

• Registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
• Technical background in computer science, software engineering, data analytics, or a related field.
• Experience with CPI, PatSnap, or comparable IP docketing and analytics platforms.
