Salary: £60,000 - £110,000 per annum (Permanent); £250 - £300 per day (Contract)

What you will do

• Lead and mentor engineers across modern backend and legacy stacks
• Own evolution of platforms and drive migration from monoliths to distributed systems
• Contribute hands-on to backend engineering, infrastructure, and platform development
• Define engineering strategy, roadmaps, and best practices
• Champion excellence in architecture, observability, monitoring, reliability, and incident management
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align technical delivery with business goals and adopt AI practices

Requirements

• Proven experience leading engineering teams delivering high-quality software
• Strong hands-on backend experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and API design
• Deep AWS and cloud-native architecture knowledge
• Distributed systems experience at scale, including optimization and scalability
• Infrastructure as Code with Terraform or CloudFormation
• Observability, monitoring, reliability, incident management, and legacy/modern environments
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and mentoring skills

Nice to have

• Commercial AI experience or strong personal projects in AI
