TL;DR

Senior Web Developer (WordPress): Architect, develop, and optimize custom WordPress websites for SEO, performance, and scalability with an accent on technical SEO implementation, Core Web Vitals, and full-stack infrastructure. Focus on engineering systems for crawlability, indexation, server deployments, and handling real-world constraints like traffic spikes and legacy rebuilds.

Location: Remote with flexible hours from day one

Digital Marketing Agency based in Southern California, serving clients nationwide through SEO, content, and performance-driven strategies since 2009.

What you will do

Own the technical foundation by architecting and building fully custom WordPress themes, plugins, and ACF-driven structures
Engineer sites for speed, scalability, strong Core Web Vitals, and technical SEO including structured data
Handle server environments, deployments, DNS, CDN (Cloudflare), SMTP, and hosting configurations
Integrate APIs, third-party systems, GA4, and GTM while ensuring data integrity
Work with Shopify and BigCommerce at code level when needed and debug full-stack issues
Collaborate closely with SEO, Content, and Digital PR teams for strong technical execution

Requirements

5+ years of web development experience in agency or performance-driven environments
Deep expertise in PHP including WordPress core-level development
Strong JavaScript with modern frameworks and tooling
Working knowledge of Python for automation, scraping, and tooling
Proven experience building custom WordPress websites from scratch
Strong understanding of technical SEO and ability to solve full-stack issues independently

Nice to have

Experience with large-scale or SEO-heavy websites, schema, structured data, programmatic SEO
CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, Docker, log analysis, security hardening
Multi-site or multi-location SEO builds
