Sr. R&D Mechanical Engineer (Medtech): Designing and developing patient monitoring consumables for physiologic sensing applications with an accent on optomechanical design and manufacturability. Location: Hybrid (Must be based in Lafayette, Colorado, USA) - Required to be onsite at least 4 days per week.

Salary: $105,600 - $158,400

What you will do

• Lead mechanical product design for patient monitoring consumables, covering concept development, prototyping, and design transfer.
• Own complex design tasks that balance performance, safety, cost, and manufacturability.
• Develop detailed product specifications, assembly drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
• Perform engineering analysis using GD&T, tolerance analysis, finite element modeling, and statistical methods.
• Build CAD models and prototypes using SolidWorks and various rapid prototyping methods.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Quality, Regulatory, and Manufacturing to ensure designs are feasible and aligned with user needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, or Materials Engineering with 4+ years of experience (or Advanced degree with 2+ years).
• Professional experience in the medical device industry.
• Unrestricted U.S. work authorization is required.
• Proficiency in CAD expertise, specifically with SolidWorks.
• Experience in designing and executing experiments for sensor durability and optical performance.

Nice to have

• Experience with MATLAB, Python, Minitab, or Ansys.
• Knowledge of thin films, adhesives, flexible materials, and their failure modes.
• Experience with tissue optics, spectroscopy, or oximetry systems.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach junior engineers.
