Location: Must be based in San Francisco and work on-site 5 days/week

Salary: $225K – $300K + Equity

What you will do

• Lead all mechanical engineering execution from concept definition and feasibility prototyping through EVT, DVT, PVT, and ramp.
• Provide technical direction on cross-functional trade-offs involving thermals, fluids, mechanisms, and sensing.
• Collaborate with the CPO and executive team to translate requirements into shippable mechanical architecture and build plans.
• Manage and coach a team of mechanical, soft goods, and prototype & test engineers.
• Travel to Asia to manage suppliers and ensure successful delivery against production goals.
• Implement design reviews and phase-gate processes to ensure peak team efficiency.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience developing complex electromechanical systems, preferably high-volume consumer hardware.
• Proven track record of scaling products to high-volume production in Asia.
• BSME or equivalent degree.
• Deep knowledge of injection molding, electronics/sensor integration, and mechanism design.
• Willingness and ability to travel to China as needed.
• Ability to work from the San Francisco office 5 days per week.

Nice to have

• Proficiency with thermal engineering, fluid systems, actuators, and soft goods.
• Experience in early-stage product development and industrial design.
