Manufacturing Engineer 1st Shift (Automotive): Support high-volume assembly and testing manufacturing processes with an accent on equipment efficiency, process improvements, and technical documentation. Focus on collaborating cross-functionally to resolve downtime events, quality concerns, and safety issues while providing day-to-day operations and maintenance support.

Location: Onsite in Grand Rapids, Michigan (full-time reporting required). GM does not provide immigration sponsorship (H-1B, OPT, etc.). This job may be eligible for relocation benefits.

What you will do

• Ensure manufacturing technical documentation is up to date.
• Provide technical direction to teams and vendors for processes, equipment, and solutions meeting quality and efficiency standards.
• Collaborate cross-functionally on problem-solving, equipment efficiency, downtime resolution, and quality concerns.
• Support daily manufacturing operations and maintenance.
• Identify and resolve safety and ergonomics issues.
• Deliver training, develop manuals and instructions, and coordinate projects on schedule and budget.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
• 3+ years in engineering support in manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of high-volume manufacturing and testing.
• Experience with Microsoft Suite and engineering software.
• Ability to work weekends and overtime as needed.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of high-speed assembly equipment.
• Knowledge of vision inspection systems.
• Proficiency with Fanuc robot fault recovery and programming.
• Proficiency with CAD software.
• Statistical analysis skills.
• Proficiency with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T).
