Vehicle & Mission Operations Engineer (Spacecraft)

Location: Los Angeles, California, United States. The role involves work at factories, test facilities, launch sites, and during pre-launch and on-orbit operations. The hire must be a U.S. person under ITAR or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export control license.

Salary: $100,000–$150,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Author manual and automated test procedures to verify spacecraft hardware and software flight readiness.
• Lead integration campaigns for development and flight hardware.
• Operate spacecraft during factory, facility, launch-site, and pre-launch testing by interpreting telemetry and sending commands.
• Support real-time on-orbit mission operations, decision-making, and coordination.
• Scope payload testing with customers based on expected functions and failure modes.
• Identify off-nominal conditions, communicate risks and status, and drive issues to resolution with engineering teams and payload providers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, aerospace, mechanical, computer, or another relevant engineering discipline.
• At least one year of integration, test, or automation engineering experience, including internships and design/build/compete projects.
• Competency with analog and digital circuits, sensors and instrumentation, and software.
• Familiarity with basic RF, fluids, statics and mechanics, and data acquisition systems.
• Must qualify as a U.S. person under ITAR or be eligible for a federally issued export control license.

Nice to have

• Spacecraft testing and troubleshooting experience, including subsystem checkouts and system acceptance testing.
• Familiarity with LEOP, telemetry, commanding, fault protection, and anomaly resolution.
• Experience with clean rooms, ESD-sensitive equipment, mission or production vehicle operations, HITL or Flatsat testbeds, Python, Rust, or Linux.
• Conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
