Spacecraft Thermal Engineer II (Aerospace)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; based at hirify.global's global headquarters

Base salary: $100,800–$126,000 USD annually. Total compensation including equity: $110,875–$143,625 USD annually.

What you will do

• Complete thermal modeling and analysis for spacecraft and space vehicle components.
• Conduct thermal design trade studies balancing performance margins, resource use, risk, cost, and schedule.
• Identify and resolve thermal design, acceptance, and performance issues.
• Design and execute thermal tests, including thermal balance testing.
• Validate thermal models using test and in-flight data.
• Collaborate with program, design, test, and engineering teams and research thermal control material vendors.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, or another engineering discipline.
• At least 2 years of thermal engineering experience.
• U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements.
• U.S. office roles are subject to ITAR eligibility and applicable U.S. export-control authorization requirements.
• Ability to work for prolonged periods sitting, standing, walking, and using a computer, with occasional exposure to noise, dust, and fumes in production areas.

Nice to have

• Master's or PhD in aerospace, mechanical, or another engineering discipline.
• Experience with heat transfer, thermal systems, passive thermal management, heat pipes, and multilayer insulation.
• Experience with Thermal Desktop, Siemens NX, Teamcenter, NX Space Systems Thermal, ANSYS, SINDA, or THERMICA.
• Experience planning and analyzing thermal balance tests and using 0-D and 1-D thermal/fluid networks.
• Familiarity with Python, MATLAB, orbital mechanics, attitude dynamics, launch operations, and on-orbit operations.
