Location: Long Beach, California, United States; based out of hirify.global’s global headquarters

Base pay: $95,000–$125,000 USD per year for California.

hirify.global is an end-to-end aerospace company building rockets, spacecraft, payloads, and critical space systems for commercial, exploration, and national security missions.

What you will do

  • Complete thermal modeling and analysis of spacecraft and space vehicle components.
  • Conduct thermal design trade studies balancing performance margins, resources, risk, cost, and schedule.
  • Identify and resolve thermal design, acceptance, and performance issues.
  • Design and execute thermal tests, including testing of spacecraft components and assemblies.
  • Validate thermal models using test and in-flight data.
  • Coordinate with program, design, test, and other engineering teams and research thermal-control material vendors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, or another engineering discipline.
  • At least 2 years of thermal engineering experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements.
  • For U.S. office roles, eligibility under ITAR requirements is required, such as U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, refugee or asylee status, or applicable government authorizations.

Nice to have

  • Master’s or PhD in aerospace, mechanical, or another engineering discipline.
  • Experience with heat transfer, thermal systems, passive thermal management, heat pipes, and multi-layer insulation.
  • Experience with Thermal Desktop, SINDA, THERMICA, ANSYS, NX Space Systems Thermal, Siemens NX, and Teamcenter.
  • Experience planning and analyzing thermal balance tests, 0-D and 1-D thermal/fluid networks, and using Python or MATLAB.
  • Knowledge of launch and on-orbit operations, orbital mechanics, and attitude dynamics.
