Senior Firmware Engineer, ASIC: Contribute to the design and implementation of embedded firmware architecture for custom SoCs with an accent on boot flows, HAL components, drivers, and system services. Salary: $160,000 – $220,000 + equity

What you will do

• Design and implement embedded firmware architecture, including boot flows, HAL, drivers, and system services.
• Develop low-level firmware in C/C++ (and assembly) for CPUs, DSPs, and microcontrollers in custom SoCs.
• Implement bootloaders, secure boot, early hardware initialization, and device drivers for peripherals like DMA, memory controllers, SerDes, ADC/DAC.
• Participate in pre-silicon firmware development, post-silicon bring-up, and debug hardware/firmware issues using JTAG, logic analyzers, and trace tools.
• Collaborate with SoC architects on register maps, interrupts, DMA flows; integrate RTOS or bare-metal; add error handling and logging.
• Contribute to manufacturing test firmware, production firmware, field diagnostics, and long-term firmware scalability.

Requirements

• 5+ years in embedded firmware development for SoCs or complex systems.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems and low-level hardware interactions.
• Hands-on experience with SoC or board-level bring-up.
• Strong understanding of CPU architectures (ARM, RISC-V), memory systems, interrupts, DMA, low-power states.
• Experience collaborating with ASIC/SoC design or hardware teams; ability to debug complex issues.
• Must be a U.S. Person per ITAR export control regulations.

Nice to Have

• Experience with secure boot, hardware security modules, or cryptographic accelerators.
• Familiarity with pre-silicon environments (RTL simulation, emulation, FPGA).
• Experience with high-speed interfaces (PCIe, Ethernet, JESD, SerDes).
• Background in satellite communication, networking, compute, automotive, or high-reliability systems.
• Experience with radiation-tolerant or mission-critical systems.
