TL;DR
Senior Propulsion Mechanical Design Engineer (Aerospace): Own the mechanical design of propulsion system hardware including propulsion modules, critical thruster components, propellant management system, avionics box, and secondary structures with an accent on validation through the entire lifecycle from concept to production and flight demonstrations. Focus on generating 3D models and drawings, performing analysis on test data, iterating designs, developing test plans, and managing vendors.
Los Angeles, CA. Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual) per ITAR export control regulations.
Base salary range: $140,000 - $175,000 + equity

What you will do
- Own mechanical design of propulsion hardware including modules, thrusters, propellant systems, avionics, and structures.
- Validate designs through full lifecycle, from concept to flight demonstrations.
- Generate 3D models, dimensioned drawings, and interface control documents.
- Analyze test data, iterate designs, and make go/no-go decisions on performance.
- Develop and execute component and system-level test plans.
- Manage propulsion vendors and suppliers through delivery, refining schedules.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, or relevant engineering discipline.
- 10+ years of experience with mechanical/electromechanical design and analysis.
- Experience with CAD or FEA software packages.
- Practical application of GD&T and proficiency in mechanical design, materials, thermodynamics, and fluids principles.
- Demonstrated ability to design, build, test hardware from scratch, including troubleshooting and iteration.
- Experience owning mechanical hardware/systems in integrated engineering teams.
- Must be a U.S. Person per ITAR.
Nice to have
- Experience in advanced propulsion technologies, high-performance engines, in-space propulsion, and system integration.
- Designing, building, testing mechanical assemblies for aerospace applications.
- Deep experience with high/low-pressure fluidic components, feed systems, or tanks.
- Understanding of structural analysis and failure modes in space environments.
- Experience with production tooling or product design in prototype/high-volume settings.
