What you will do

  • Recruit, hire, and develop a small, senior engineering team with high individual leverage.
  • Own the architecture for headless execution and workload orchestration across workstations, on-prem HPC, and cloud.
  • Act as a player-coach, writing production code and reviewing PRs during the first year.
  • Lead the execution of integrations with HEEDS, ModelCenter, and PhysicsX Flux pipelines.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers to translate strategy into technical execution plans.
  • Design systems that function within strict IT governance and export control constraints for defense and aerospace clients.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years managing engineering teams.
  • Expertise in building distributed systems, infrastructure software, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Experience shipping software into customer-managed environments (on-prem, hybrid, or air-gapped).
  • Must be based in or willing to relocate to the NYC metro area.

Nice to have

  • Background in HPC, scientific computing, or engineering simulation (Slurm, PBS, OpenMDAO).
  • Experience with ITAR/EAR obligations or strict IT governance.
  • Comfort reading and reasoning about C++ codebases.

Culture & Benefits

  • Opportunity to build a critical product area and team from scratch reporting to the CTO.
  • Work on genuinely hard technical problems for high-stakes industries.
  • Hybrid work model requiring 3 days in-office per week.
  • AI-native workflows and a culture of high individual leverage.
