TL;DR

Senior Avionics Engineer (Aerospace/Avionics): Developing and integrating avionics systems for satellites and lunar landers with an accent on flight hardware, power management, and mission-critical autonomy. Focus on creating component specifications, troubleshooting subsystem anomalies, and ensuring flight hardware reliability in deep space environments.

Location: Englewood, Colorado. Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or eligible for ITAR authorization

Salary: $126,000 - $189,000 a year

What you will do

  • Create specifications and drawings for circuit boards and wire harnesses for flight items and ground support equipment.
  • Coordinate with systems engineering to author and manage avionics requirements and verification plans.
  • Troubleshoot and debug subsystem anomalies throughout development, AI&T, and flight operation phases.
  • Integrate and verify GNC sensors and boards within Flat Sat environments and flight vehicles.
  • Collaborate with the Japan-based design team to resolve local fabrication and design issues.
  • Develop and prepare ground support and facility equipment for space vehicle products.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Science.
  • 7+ years of experience in avionics component or system design, development, and testing.
  • Expertise in requirements definition, decomposition, and verification/validation.
  • Proficiency with lab and test equipment for design validation and characterization.
  • Knowledge of avionics industry standards (e.g., NASA, SMC, IPC, J-STD).
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or ITAR-eligible.

Nice to have

  • 2+ years of specific experience working with spacecraft avionics systems.
  • Proficiency with schematic capture and layout tools such as Altium.
  • Experience with spacecraft sensors like IMUs, star trackers, and sun sensors.
  • Basic knowledge of communication components (SDRs, RF PAs, RF switches).
  • Experience with FPGA programming and git workflows.
