TL;DR

Principal Machine Learning Engineer (AI/ML): Leading the development of conversational AI, healthcare assistance tools, and personalization systems with an accent on LLM orchestration, RAG systems, and scalable ML platform architecture. Focus on designing high-impact AI models from inception to production and mentoring engineering teams to advance mental healthcare delivery.

Location: Must permanently reside in the US full-time. Remote, or Hybrid (3 days/week) if based in San Francisco.

Salary: $162,000–$250,000 + equity

What you will do

• Lead the development of complex, scalable AI models and applications from inception to production.
• Drive the design, development, and evolution of the internal ML platform architecture.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to align technical decisions with organizational goals.
• Serve as a technical expert and mentor to junior engineers.
• Contribute to DEIB initiatives within the engineering organization.

Requirements

• 8+ years of ML engineering experience with proficiency in Python.
• Deep expertise in vector search, embedding models, recommender systems, LLM orchestration, and RAG systems.
• 5+ years of experience with NLP tools and libraries (scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, spaCy).
• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing and version control.
• Must permanently reside in the US full-time.

Nice to have

• PhD in a relevant field.
• Professional experience with clinical or healthcare applications of machine learning.
• Familiarity with current ML literature, optimization methods, and agent-based models.
• Experience implementing robust and highly scalable services.
• Experience with AWS ecosystem (SageMaker, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, IAM).
