Location: US remote eligible; residence required in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity. Occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites may be required.
Salary: $248,000–$310,000 USD per year, with potential bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.

What you will do
- Fine-tune, evaluate, optimize, and productionize large language models and foundation models for Airbnb use cases.
- Build and continuously improve machine learning models and pipelines for batch and real-time applications.
- Develop AI products including assistants, autonomous agents, recommendations, and travel-planning solutions.
- Create a multi-year technology roadmap for generative AI initiatives.
- Evaluate emerging foundation models and select solutions that improve performance and efficiency.
- Drive AI architecture decisions and contribute to ML platform architecture and strategy.
Requirements
- PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of experience developing machine learning models and products at scale.
- Strong programming experience in Python and hands-on experience with PyTorch.
- Experience training, fine-tuning, optimizing, and deploying machine learning models.
- Post-training experience in LLM alignment, reinforcement learning, efficient training and inference, model evaluation, multilingual or multimodal modeling, or responsible LLM development.
- Alternatively, specialized experience in runtime optimization, model quantization, compression, on-device or GPU inference, or kernel development.
