Lead Network Architect (OT)

TL;DR

Lead Network Architect (OT): Designing and standardizing secure Operational Technology (OT) network architectures for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) with an accent on scalability, performance, and industrial security. Focus on implementing IEC 62443 segmentation, managing Cisco/Juniper infrastructure, and integrating OT networks with cloud platforms.

Location: Hybrid (4 days in office in Erlangen, Germany)

What you will do

• Design and maintain enterprise and OT network architectures supporting BESS platforms and deployment sites.
• Implement network segmentation aligned with IEC 62443 zones and conduits architecture.
• Support networking for SCADA, PCS, BMS, and other industrial control systems.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to network engineers within agile teams.
• Evaluate and select network hardware, software, and service providers.
• Develop and maintain high-level (HLD) and low-level (LLD) network architecture documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Networking, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 12–16+ years of experience in network engineering and architecture.
• Deep expertise in Cisco technologies (Nexus, Catalyst, ASA/FTD/FMC) and protocols (BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VRF, VPN).
• Proven experience designing networks for Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and SCADA environments.
• Knowledge of IEC 62443 security standards for critical infrastructure.
• Must be based in or able to work from Erlangen, Germany.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS networking or hybrid cloud architectures.
• Familiarity with Linux networking and diagnostics.
• Experience with network automation tools like Ansible or scripting in Python/shell.
• Certifications such as Cisco CCNP/CCIE or Juniper JNCIP/JNCIE.
