TL;DR

Director Quality (Aerospace): Building and scaling the company's quality organization for space hardware programs with an accent on reliability and risk management. Focus on implementing a comprehensive QMS, leading the Failure Review Board, and ensuring mission success throughout the product lifecycle.

Location: Alameda, CA (San Francisco Bay Area). Position requires compliance with ITAR/EAR regulations (must be a documented U.S. Person).

Salary: $211,564–$250,000

What you will do

  • Establish and own the Mission Assurance strategy, performing risk assessments and mitigating mission-critical risks.
  • Implement a Design Assurance program integrating quality and safety according to NASA and DOD standards.
  • Develop, deploy, and maintain a comprehensive QMS in preparation for AS9100 certification.
  • Lead the supplier quality management program and conduct technical reviews and audits of critical parts.
  • Build, mentor, and scale the quality and mission assurance team to support company growth.
  • Lead the Failure Review Board (FRB) for program anomalies to ensure robust root cause analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, physical sciences, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of experience in quality and mission assurance within the aerospace, defense, or space industry.
  • Proven experience leading the implementation of a QMS, preferably in a manufacturing startup.
  • Strong knowledge of AS9100 and familiarity with NASA and DOD government standards.
  • Must be a documented U.S. Person to comply with ITAR and EAR regulations.

Nice to have

  • Master's degree in an engineering or technical discipline.
  • Experience with NADCAP accreditation for special processes.
  • Professional certifications such as CQE or CMQ/OE.
  • Experience interacting with government agencies like NASA or DoD on mission assurance issues.
