What you will do

• Own policy frameworks for sanctions and export controls programs, updating them as regulations and business evolve.
• Serve as subject-matter expert on international sanctions (OFAC, EU, UK) and US export controls (EAR/BIS), partnering with counsel and teams on implementation.
• Conduct risk assessments for products, partners, and expansions, defining screening standards and escalation criteria.
• Advise on third-party access risks, review escalated cases, and determine regulator engagement needs.
• Monitor regulatory developments, conduct testing of controls, and develop training content.
• Prepare reporting on program health and risks for leadership.

Requirements

• Substantive hands-on experience with economic sanctions compliance (OFAC, EU, UK), including program design, risk assessment, and screening.
• Substantive hands-on experience with US export controls (EAR/BIS), including classification and end-use/end-user analysis.
• Experience building or maturing sanctions/export controls programs: policies, risk frameworks, controls, testing, training.
• Track record partnering with legal on trade controls and translating into guidance for product, engineering, operations, commercial teams.
• Experience reviewing trade controls in agreements and third-party diligence.
• Excellent written/verbal communication for policy drafting and leadership materials.

Nice to have

• 7+ years in sanctions/export controls compliance.
• Prior Big 4 or compliance consulting experience.
• Experience in hyper-scaling tech, software/cloud/AI contexts.
• Sound judgment for risk-based decisions in fast-paced environments.
