TL;DR
Principal Engineer (AI/SaaS): Architecting and building an AI-powered contract intelligence platform to transform agreements into assets with an accent on distributed SaaS architecture and LLM integration. Focus on designing scalable multi-tenant systems, implementing RAG and semantic search, and driving end-to-end delivery of AI product experiences.
Location: Hybrid (San Francisco, CA). Office attendance is required at least twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Salary: $285,000 – $315,000

What you will do
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers and designers to spec, design, and build AI-powered features.
- Own and evolve core platform architecture, focusing on service boundaries, data models, and multi-tenant scale.
- Build AI solutions applying LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), semantic search, and classification.
- Lead technical discussions, mentor engineers, and drive the end-to-end delivery of scalable production systems.
- Partner with quality engineers to define and maintain a robust testing strategy.
- Contribute to the growth of the engineering team through interviewing and recruiting.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software experience architecting, building, and maintaining complex systems.
- Deep experience designing large-scale, distributed SaaS or platform architectures (e.g., event-driven systems).
- Proven track record of shipping AI applications and AI-powered product features to production.
- Experience with LLM integration, retrieval, experimentation, and measurement.
- Must be based in or be able to work from San Francisco, CA for hybrid office attendance.
- Strong cross-team communication and collaboration skills.

- Experience with TypeScript, React, Node.js, Java, Docker, Kubernetes, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
