Software Development Engineer III (Platform Software Services)

Base pay range for Washington applicants: $164,652.00–$230,512.80 annually. Other site ranges may differ.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate scalable, highly available backend services, APIs, microservices, and distributed system components.
• Develop integrations with internal systems and commercial enterprise platforms using REST, GraphQL, messaging, and event-driven architectures.
• Build cloud-native solutions on AWS and maintain infrastructure-as-code for reliable deployments across environments.
• Own service reliability through on-call rotations, incident response, root cause analysis, monitoring, alerting, logging, and distributed tracing.
• Contribute to React and JavaScript/TypeScript interfaces that consume platform services.
• Use and evaluate AI-assisted development tools and integrate AI/LLM capabilities where they provide measurable value.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development and production deployment experience.
• Proficiency in a statically typed language, preferably Java, and a dynamically typed language such as Python or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Strong knowledge of computer science fundamentals, distributed systems, object-oriented design, and end-to-end production software delivery.
• Hands-on AWS and cloud-native development experience, including REST and/or GraphQL APIs, relational and NoSQL databases, CI/CD, automated testing, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Experience supporting production systems on-call and conducting incident response and postmortems.
• Applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, U.S. permanent residents, or lawfully admitted refugees or asylees.

Nice to have

• Experience with ERP, PLM, MES, event-driven systems, GraphQL federation, React, Terraform or AWS CDK, and observability platforms.
• Experience integrating AI/LLM APIs, prompt engineering, and evaluating AI-generated code for security and production readiness.
• Mentoring experience and background in aerospace, manufacturing, or supply chain.
