TL;DR

Layout Environment TD (VFX): Building and blocking CG environments and camera setups for VFX sequences with an accent on procedural environment building and photographic composition. Focus on matching photographic references and ensuring cinematic framing for feature films.

Location: Onsite at Weta's Vancouver Hub. Must be based in or be available to relocate to Vancouver and eligible to work in Canada.

Salary: $37 – $56 CAD per hour

What you will do

• Determine CG camera positioning and block CG characters for shots within VFX sequences.
• Create detailed CG environments using assets provided by the Models department.
• Manage shot framing, composition, camera angles, and movement for each scene.
• Match photographic references of natural or architectural environments using minimal assets.
• Coordinate lighting requirements and integrate matchmove concepts into the layout.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of layout experience in Visual Effects for feature films.
• Proficiency in Maya, including camera, modelling, animation, and rendering.
• Production experience with procedural environment building.
• Deep understanding of photographic composition and camera lenses.
• Must be based in or be able to relocate to Vancouver, Canada.
• Must be eligible to work in Canada.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Nuke and Katana.
• Scripting abilities in Python.
