Data Center Architect

Location: Fully onsite in Hampton, Virginia, at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, United States

Salary: $140,000–$199,000 annually

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end data center migration strategies, including on-premises transitions, consolidations, and hybrid or cloud-adjacent migrations.
• Assess infrastructure environments, dependencies, capacity, and risks to create migration roadmaps and execution plans.
• Design target-state architectures aligned with business objectives, security standards, and compliance requirements.
• Coordinate migration activities with infrastructure, network, storage, security, and application teams.
• Lead technical decisions involving virtualization, storage, networking, backup, and disaster recovery.
• Oversee cutovers, validation, post-migration optimization, documentation, mentorship, and technical guidance.

Requirements

• Top Secret/SCI clearance required.
• High school education with 9+ years of experience or equivalent experience.
• Deep expertise in data center infrastructure, including compute, storage, networking, virtualization, and cloud architectures.
• Experience designing and executing large-scale data center migrations, dependency mapping, workload analysis, and capacity planning.
• Knowledge of SAN, NAS, object storage, routing, switching, firewalls, load balancing, backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and security compliance.
• DoD 8140 IAT Level II certification, such as Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CySA+, or CND.

Nice to have

• Experience with DoD networks, including NIPR, SIPR, and JWICS.
• Experience leading technical teams and mentoring engineers and operations staff.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and cross-team collaboration skills.
