What you will do

• Lead and coach a team of mechanical engineers supporting continuous improvement for complex test systems.
• Manage team assignments, priorities, budgets, and balance contract versus permanent headcount.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify requirements, mitigate technical risks, and select design concepts.
• Drive continuous improvement of existing products by synthesizing field data and coordinating with manufacturing and quality groups.
• Provide project management leadership to ensure designs meet customer value and project timelines.
• Partner with external-facing teams to understand customer needs and translate them into technical solutions.

Requirements

• Must be local to North Reading, MA; no relocation provided.
• Must be authorized to work in the US; no visa sponsorship available.
• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience designing complex commercial mechanical products.
• Strong understanding of automation, robot design, and manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in design control concepts including FMEA, design input/output, and requirement traceability.

Nice to have

• Experience with mechatronics in fast-paced environments.
• Knowledge of Statistical Process Control in mass production.
• Background in reliability engineering, serviceability design, or field failure analysis.
