Senior Fullstack/Frontend Engineer (React)

Location: Hybrid, with reporting to a specific location at least 3 times per week in Austin, Texas; Mountain View, California; or Sunnyvale, California. Travel required: less than 25%. The role may be eligible for relocation benefits.

Salary: $144,700–$261,300 per year, plus incentive compensation potential.

What you will do

• Architect and implement scalable frontend systems for autonomous-vehicle mapping applications across web and embedded platforms.
• Build data-rich interfaces for geospatial visualization, map editing, validation, release, QA, and debugging workflows.
• Collaborate with backend, simulation, localization, perception, machine-learning, product, and domain teams to define data contracts and integrate systems.
• Lead frontend development for high-impact projects, including milestone definition, stakeholder alignment, and engineer mentoring.
• Drive design reviews, UI/UX standards, code quality, testing, documentation, and frontend architecture practices.
• Optimize rendering performance and responsiveness for large-scale map data and real-time updates while contributing to roadmap planning and hiring.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building and maintaining production-grade frontend applications.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience; degrees in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related technical field are accepted.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript, React or similar frameworks, and state management libraries such as Redux or Zustand.
• Deep understanding of frontend performance optimization, accessibility, responsive design, and user-facing product delivery.
• Experience with geospatial data, map-rendering libraries such as Mapbox GL, Deck.gl, or OpenLayers, or visualization frameworks such as D3.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs, WebSockets, GraphQL, and leading frontend initiatives with cross-functional stakeholders.

Nice to have

• 7+ years of production frontend experience.
• Experience with autonomous-vehicle mapping systems, HD map pipelines, or automated cartographic error detection.
• Knowledge of computer vision or machine-learning workflows for map labeling or perception.
• Experience with Node internals, performance tuning, geospatial services, coordinate systems, and transforms.
