TL;DR

Procurement Manager Projects (Engineer-to-Order): Sourcing and contracting all supply chain activities for customer projects in an Engineer-to-Order environment with an accent on material planning, supplier development, and risk management. Focus on translating project requirements (BOMs) into procurement plans and managing supplier contracts to ensure on-time delivery within budget.

Location: Must be based in Vernon Hills, IL or Winsted, MN

Salary: $100,100 – $142,800

What you will do

  • Source new suppliers and drive development activities in collaboration with product and supplier quality engineers.
  • Maintain and improve the supplier base regarding quality, capabilities, production capacity, and cost reduction.
  • Lead negotiations and contracting for global and local specifications.
  • Ensure legal compliance of supplier contracts with support from the legal department.
  • Translate project requirements (BOMs and specifications) into detailed material and procurement plans.
  • Procure equipment, parts, components, and services for projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, business administration, or a related numerical field.
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience as a buyer in purchasing processes and vendor management.
  • Proven experience in project procurement, specifically within Engineer-to-Order (ETO) environments.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with a proactive approach to risk management.
  • Must be based in the US; visa sponsorship and relocation are not provided.
