Mission Systems Software Test Engineer II

Location: Reston, VA (onsite). Must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident (Green Card holder), refugee, or asylee due to Export Control Regulations.

hirify.global develops reusable space vehicles and systems for space infrastructure and on-orbit mobility in the In-Space Systems and Blue Ring business units.

What you will do

• Create effective test plans and scripts for ground and flight software.
• Document test configurations and results, identify and report bugs to software teams.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on flight vehicle systems and ground software.
• Plan and perform mission system product updates, integration, test activities, and validation for operations and flight.
• Conduct testing of ground system functionality and measure performance.
• Perform flight software to ground systems integration and test.

Requirements

• B.S. in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, physics or related field.
• Experience in two or more areas: software testing and test script development; spacecraft operations (command & control, mission planning, flight dynamics); cloud computing (AWS or Azure); network & communications protocols.
• Experience in one or more high-level programming languages (Python, Golang, Rust, C++, etc.).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Nice to have

• Experience conducting end-to-end testing of large, complex systems.
• Experience with requirement definition, design, implementation, integration, verification, validation, qualification.
• Experience using LLM software development tools like Codex or Claude Code.
• Experience with Confluence, JIRA, Git, and configuration/product data management tools.
