Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) (Aerospace)

Location: Burlingame, California, United States; on-site

Salary: $120,000–$140,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Architect, write, and maintain C++ unit and integration test suites for numerical and navigation logic.
• Develop Python integration and end-to-end tests for distributed cloud and edge workflows.
• Build deterministic test harnesses, mocks, simulation utilities, and tests for difficult edge cases.
• Validate C++/Python binding layers and data transfer between core algorithms and higher-level systems.
• Integrate automated testing with Bazel and GitLab CI/CD across AWS and Kubernetes environments.
• Analyze coverage, investigate regressions, and lead root-cause debugging of complex test failures.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 3 years of professional experience as an SDET, QA Engineer, or Software Engineer focused on automated testing.
• Strong C++ and Python skills, including unit testing, integration testing, mocking, and work with collaborative Git-based workflows.
• Experience configuring CI/CD pipelines and testing multi-service, cloud, or hybrid distributed environments.
• Experience measuring and enforcing code coverage with gcov, lcov, or Bazel coverage tools.

Nice to have

• Experience in aerospace, defense, GNSS/PNT, or other high-reliability software environments.
• Experience with nanobind, pybind11, ctypes, gRPC, or Protobuf interfaces.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, deterministic simulation, log playback, or hardware-in-the-loop testing.
• Experience with GitLab CI/CD and Bazel or related build systems such as Buck2 or Pants.
