What you will do

  • Develop theoretical and numerical models of superconducting qubit processors to improve device performance.
  • Collaborate across theory, measurement, design, and calibration teams to validate predictions.
  • Conduct pathfinding research on novel qubit designs, gate schemes, and processor architectures.
  • Communicate scientific findings via conference presentations and publications in scientific journals.
  • Evaluate emerging research developments to inform strategic architectural decisions.

Requirements

  • PhD in physics, applied physics, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of related experience.
  • Expertise in superconducting circuits, cavity/circuit QED, quantum optics, or open quantum systems.
  • Proven track record of original, impactful research in quantum physics.
  • Proficiency in a scientific programming environment.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or be able to obtain a US export license.

Nice to have

  • Expertise in superconducting qubit operations (gates, readout, reset).
  • Familiarity with bosonic codes, erasure/dual-rail qubits, or protected qubits.
  • Knowledge of quantum error correction and fault-tolerant logic.
  • Experience with high-performance computing and numerical methods.
  • Experience setting technical direction for a research team or initiative.
