Lead Engineer (Reporting/BI)

Salary: $124,000–$156,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Provide day-to-day technical leadership for a small scrum team developing reporting and business intelligence capabilities for the Certent Equity Management platform.
• Write, review, and improve production code across SQL, Oracle, and the application tier.
• Lead sprint planning, refinement, standups, demos, retrospectives, prioritization, and delivery readiness.
• Diagnose and optimize complex real-time reporting queries, including execution plans, indexes, materialized views, partitioning, and data models.
• Manage four to five engineers through 1:1s, performance feedback, career development, hiring, and onboarding.
• Work directly with client stakeholders and product leadership to define generic, scalable reporting solutions.

Requirements

• 8–10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience specializing in BI, reporting, and SQL in enterprise SaaS environments.
• Deep Oracle SQL and PL/SQL expertise, including query tuning, execution plan optimization, indexing, materialized views, and large-dataset performance optimization.
• Experience with enterprise BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Cognos, or similar.
• Previous technical leadership and direct people management experience, including prioritization, scrum ceremonies, feedback, and career development.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted or agentic development tooling and driving AI adoption within an engineering team.
• Familiarity with C#, .NET, Azure, code review standards, query benchmarking, and definition-of-done practices.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with Logi Analytics or Logi Symphony.
• Experience with data cube architectures, pre-aggregation, query rewrite, result cache, and analytical functions.
• Experience with Azure data services, cloud-native reporting, or financial and regulated domains.
• Certified Scrum Master certification or experience mentoring mid-level engineers into senior or lead roles.
