Senior Character Artist (Gamedev)

TL;DR

Senior Character Artist (Gamedev): Creating high-quality characters, creatures, and weapons suitable technically and artistically with an accent on organic and hard-surface modeling, texturing, and surface shaders. Focus on collaborating with animators for rigging, maintaining production pipelines, bugfixing, and mentoring peers.

Location: Warsaw, Poland (Remote/Hybrid). The role is open only to candidates based in Europe.

Leading independent AAA game development studio with international team working on titles like Gears of War: E-Day, Project Echo, and Lost Rift using Unreal Engine.

What you will do

• Create high-quality characters, creatures, and weapons that are technically and artistically suitable.
• Tune or create surface shaders for in-game characters.
• Work with animators to ensure characters can be rigged and animated properly.
• Maintain production and software pipelines while meeting deadlines.
• Perform bugfixing and document R&D case studies in the knowledge base.
• Mentor less experienced peers and occasionally onboard new hires.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as Senior Character Artist developing character models and textures.
• Shipped at least 1 AAA game title with credits as Character Artist.
• Based in Europe.
• Strong organic modeling skills (human faces, clothing, creatures) and hard-surface modeling (armor, weapons).
• High/low poly modeling, texturing, and PBR shaders.
• Excellent knowledge of 3D software: Maya, Max, Modo, ZBrush, Marvelous Designer, Substance Painter.
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
• High work ethic, self-motivation, and passion for games.
