Lead Technical Architect (Networks)

TL;DR

Lead Technical Architect (Networks): Designing and delivering secure network and infrastructure solutions for mission-critical emergency services with an accent on Cisco and Palo Alto platforms. Focus on architecting scalable network security, mentoring engineering teams, and managing high-level incident response.

Location: Hybrid (Home-based). Must have lived in the UK for 5 consecutive years or more due to strict security clearance requirements.

What you will do

• Design and deliver secure, scalable network architecture based on Cisco Catalyst, Palo Alto, and Cisco Firepower.
• Lead and mentor a team of network engineers, managing workloads, performance, and technical direction.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and stakeholders to scope, plan, and deliver network security projects.
• Coordinate incident response and drive root cause analysis within contracted SLA timescales.
• Implement network security patches and upgrades across enterprise devices and security appliances.
• Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including architecture designs and Visio diagrams.

Requirements

• Eligible to obtain or hold SC and/or NPPV security clearance (must have lived in the UK for 5+ years).
• Full, current driving licence for regular customer site visits (avg. 10 days per month).
• Proven hands-on experience designing and delivering enterprise network solutions.
• Advanced networking certifications such as CCNP Enterprise or CCNP Security.
• Strong expertise in routing and switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, VRF, VLANs) and VPN technologies.
• Experience with next-generation firewalls (Palo Alto, Cisco Firepower).

Nice to have

• Experience with network monitoring and logging platforms like Checkmk and Graylog.
• Proven experience working within ITIL service management environments.
• Proficiency with packet capture and analysis tools such as Wireshark.
