What you will do

• Define and evolve the architecture of Core Services, focusing primarily on the User Management Service (UMS).
• Translate functional and non-functional requirements into scalable and secure technical designs.
• Collaborate with software engineers, architects, and product managers across Core Services.
• Review solution designs and provide architectural guidance during feature development.
• Document architectural decisions and evaluate trade-offs using lightweight artifacts like RFCs and ADRs.
• Analyze production issues and define long-term remediation plans to reduce technical debt.

Requirements

• Strong background in backend software engineering and system design.
• Solid understanding of software architecture principles for distributed systems.
• Experience designing APIs and defining clear service boundaries.
• Proficiency in data modeling and persistence strategies.
• Ability to reason about scalability, performance, security, and reliability trade-offs.
• Location: Must be able to work hybrid from the Edinburgh hub (2 days per week)
