TL;DR
Trainee Survey Engineer (Offshore): Setting up, testing, and operating survey and positioning systems for Inspection, Repair and Maintenance (IRM) and Positioning & Construction Support (PCS) with an accent on data collection and quality control. Focus on operating market-leading survey sensors, implementing maintenance systems, and preparing technical reports in offshore environments.
Location: Must be based in the UK (Aberdeen) and live within a reasonable distance of a major UK airport. Role requires offshore work and travel.

What you will do
- Set up, interface, test, calibrate, and operate survey sensors such as GNSS, Gyro, MRU, and USBL.
- Monitor data quality using online survey software to ensure all project specifications are achieved.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, including damage and fault reports.
- Implement and review Planned Maintenance Systems (PMS) for survey equipment.
- Maintain and administer the inventory of equipment and consumables.
- Collaborate with the Party Chief onboard and onshore teams to ensure efficient data collection.
Requirements
- BSc, HND, or equivalent in a relevant electronics/IT discipline or vocational qualifications.
- Proficiency in the setup and operation of GNSS, Gyro, MRU, and USBL sensors.
- Computer literacy, including knowledge of networking and CAD.
- Ability to work flexible hours, travel, and work offshore.
- Must live within a reasonable distance of a major UK airport.
- Experience in fault finding and report writing.
Nice to have
- Experience with MBES, LBL, INS, and Digital Video systems.
- Understanding of real-time positioning, data acquisition, and data QC principles.

Hiring process
- Employment starts Monday, 31st August 2026 in Aberdeen.
- Mandatory 5-week bootcamp in Plymouth starting 7th September 2026 (travel and accommodation provided).
