Financial Controller (Fintech)

TL;DR

Financial Controller (Fintech): Managing financial reporting, general ledger accuracy, and control frameworks for complex multi-jurisdictional entities with an accent on US GAAP compliance and offshore governance. Location: Must be based in or able to work from New York (Hybrid: 10+ days/month in-office)

Salary: $140,000 – $160,000 USD

What you will do

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process for all in-scope entities.
• Prepare US GAAP financial statements, including intercompany balances and sub-consolidations.
• Manage BVI entity governance, equity accounting, and intercompany support arrangements.
• Apply ASC 820 and ASU 2023-08 standards for crypto asset fair value measurement.
• Produce management accounts, variance analysis, and board/investor reporting packages.
• Lead a small accounting team and partner with Technology to automate reconciliations and ERP enhancements.

Requirements

• Active CPA certification required.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience in financial services or trading.
• Strong technical expertise in US GAAP (consolidation, intercompany, equity method, revenue recognition).
• Proven experience managing multi-entity close processes and offshore structures.
• Must be able to work in a hybrid environment in New York.

Nice to have

• Experience with BVI/Cayman entity structures.
• Background in prime brokerage, OTC derivatives, or structured finance.
• Proficiency in Python or data analysis tools.
• Big 4 or national firm experience in financial services.
• Experience with ERP implementations.
