Location: Must reside within the continental US (100% Remote)

What you will do

• Design and maintain enterprise interoperability architectures using HL7 v2, v3, CDA, and FHIR standards.
• Lead the implementation of secure health data exchange across VistA systems, COTS applications, and external partners.
• Ensure strict compliance with the VA Technical Reference Model (TRM) and federal security standards.
• Develop and support HL7 interfaces, specifically integrating with VistA modules like TIU.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams on interoperability best practices.
• Create and maintain detailed architecture documentation, including design patterns and interface specifications.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 8–10+ years of IT experience, with at least 5 years focused on healthcare interoperability in large enterprises.
• Strong expertise in HL7 FHIR (R4/R5), CDA, C-CDA, and HL7 v2.x messaging standards.
• Proven experience designing and implementing interoperability solutions within healthcare systems.
• Must be able to pass a background check and complete fingerprinting at a government facility.
• No sponsorship provided; must have valid US work authorization.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), VHA, or other federal healthcare programs.
• Hands-on experience with integration engines like Mirth Connect, Rhapsody, or InterSystems Ensemble.
• Familiarity with VistA, VistA Imaging systems, and DICOM standards.
• Experience with EHR modernization efforts (e.g., Cerner/Oracle Health).
• Knowledge of federal data governance and Public Trust clearance requirements.
