Financial Clearance II (Healthcare)

Location: Livonia, Michigan, 48152, United States. The position may operate remotely from an in-home environment or onsite in a typical office environment.

Hourly pay range: $18.0229–$27.0010 per hour

What you will do

• Financially clear pre-service accounts for outpatient, surgical, observation, inpatient, and urgent admission services.
• Verify insurance coverage, benefits, payer requirements, referrals, authorizations, and correct insurance order in the health information system.
• Coordinate with Care Management, operating room scheduling, physicians, and physician offices on authorizations, scheduling changes, cancellations, and registration needs.
• Screen accounts for medical necessity, Medicare secondary payer information, self-pay, and out-of-network status.
• Provide cost estimates, explain payment plans and assistance programs, collect point-of-service payments, and document all financial information.
• Escalate account concerns and maintain productivity, collection, registration, and quality standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least three years of financial clearance experience in an acute care setting.
• Experience handling complex surgical, observation, and inpatient financial clearance cases.
• Comprehensive knowledge of third-party and government payer billing and reimbursement guidelines.
• Proficiency with patient registration and patient accounting systems, related software, and Microsoft Office.
• HFMA CRCR and/or NAHAM CHAA certification required within one year of hire.
