Software Development Manager (Aurora Control Plane) (AWS/Aurora): Leading the development and operation of a cloud-native database control plane that orchestrates database cluster creation, scaling, replication, failover, and lifecycle management with an accent on distributed systems, reliability, and enterprise features. Focus on setting the team roadmap, guiding complex cross-team designs, mentoring engineers, and driving operational ownership for petabyte-scale workloads.

What you will do
- Lead the Aurora Serverless Control Plane team responsible for Aurora Serverless v2 and enterprise features.
- Set the team roadmap, prioritize the backlog, and coordinate delivery with product management and engineering teams.
- Provide technical direction, review designs, and guide development of multi-tier cloud services.
- Manage operational ownership, fault tolerance, alarms, incident mitigation, and root-cause resolution.
- Recruit, mentor, coach, and develop software engineers from junior to senior levels.
- Work with customers to understand use cases and shape product vision and delivery priorities.
Requirements
- Knowledge of engineering practices across the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, builds, testing, certification, and live-site operations.
- Experience managing engineering teams and working as an engineer.
- Experience leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services.
- Experience partnering with product and program management teams.
- Ability to communicate with users, technical teams, and senior leadership about requirements, technical designs, product features, and strategy.
Nice to have
- Experience recruiting, hiring, mentoring, coaching, and managing software engineers.
- Database expertise is not required; curiosity and strong engineering craftsmanship are valued.
