Employment Law Counsel

TL;DR

Employment Law Counsel (EMEA): Provide expert legal advice and guidance on labor and employment issues in Germany and other EMEA territories with an accent on hiring, performance management, terminations, and compliance. Focus on drafting contracts, handling investigations and litigation, supporting M&A transactions, and managing external counsels in new markets.

Location: Remote - Germany. Focused on candidates based in Germany with the legal right to work there without visa sponsorship.

What you will do

• Provide practical legal advice on global labor issues including hiring, performance, terminations, and benefits.
• Draft, review, and negotiate employment agreements, severance, NDAs, and related documents.
• Develop and implement company policies for compliance with local labor laws.
• Advise on disciplinary actions, investigations, grievances, and employee relations.
• Collaborate on cross-functional projects like incentive plans, IP protection, restructuring, and M&A due diligence.
• Stay current on labor law changes, oversee litigation and audits, and manage external counsels in EMEA.

Requirements

• Licensed attorney in Germany.
• Minimum 5 years as internal legal counsel in high-tech company focusing on labor and employment law.
• Strong knowledge of contract, commercial, and data protection/privacy law in international business context.
• Experience with employment litigation including discrimination and dismissal claims.
• Familiarity with M&A implications for employment law and advising in EMEA markets.
• Excellent communication, analytical skills, and ability to thrive in hyper-growth environment.
