Project Engineer

TL;DR

Project Engineer (IT Infrastructure): End-to-end execution of client infrastructure projects from SoW intake and technical planning through staging, deployment, cutover, and post-go-live stabilization with an accent on risk management, stakeholder alignment, and standards adherence. Focus on leading on-site implementations, change governance, and producing auditable deliverables under pressure.

Location: Remote within the United States (all US locations except MA, NY, CA for salary range); ability to travel at least once a month for on-site project work; able to work nights and weekends for upgrades/migrations.

Salary: $100,000 - $130,000

What you will do

• Execute infrastructure projects: design validation, configuration, staging, deployment, cutover, and stabilization.
• Convert SoWs into technical build plans with sequencing, dependencies, risks, and rollback strategies.
• Lead on-site implementations including rack/stack, cabling, circuit handoffs, and production cutovers.
• Own change governance: maintenance planning, communications, go/no-go decisions, and post-change validation.
• Produce standard deliverables like runbooks, diagrams, IP plans, and support handoffs.
• Coordinate with project managers and vendors for velocity, risks, and client satisfaction.

Requirements

• 5+ years delivering IT infrastructure projects in MSP/consulting or multi-client environments.
• Hands-on experience across Windows Server, Active Directory, Entra ID, VMware, Hyper-V, firewalls (Fortinet/Cisco/SonicWall), switching/routing/wireless (Meraki/Cisco/UniFi).
• Cloud services (Microsoft 365, Azure), security (SSO/MFA), backup/DR (Datto/Veeam), storage.
• Lead technical cutovers under pressure with troubleshooting, documentation, and stakeholder management.
• Operate under ambiguity using standards; strong documentation discipline.
• Must travel at least once a month; work nights/weekends.
