TL;DR
Lecturer (EdTech): Researching and developing pedagogy for open and distance learning with an accent on the Future of Work, AI, and Digital Wellbeing. Focus on producing high-quality scholarly publications, designing innovative teaching materials, and enhancing industry collaborations.
Location: Hybrid (Milton Keynes). Must be based in the UK and attend the Milton Keynes office at least once per fortnight.
Salary: £47,389 – £56,535

What you will do
- Conduct high-quality research and publish scholarly work to contribute to the 2029 Research Excellence Framework.
- Lead grant bidding and income-generating activities in line with IET and WELS research strategies.
- Design and deliver the IET curriculum, developing innovative teaching and assessment models for practical competencies.
- Supervise research students and foster links with industry for knowledge exchange and collaboration.
- Promote employability and career progression for students through evidence-based pedagogical approaches.
- Act as an ambassador for the academic excellence of the Institute and the University.
Requirements
- Doctorate in an area related to educational technology (or thesis submitted with significant prior experience).
- Expertise in educational technology research, specifically in the Future of Work, AI, or Digital Wellbeing.
- Experience producing distance/online teaching, learning, and assessment materials.
- Excellent written and spoken English skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams and handle constructive criticism.
- Demonstrable commitment to inclusive learning for a diverse student population.
Nice to have
- Fellowship (or higher) of the UK Higher Education Academy or equivalent.
- Experience in supervising research students.
- Successful record of gaining external research or teaching-related funding.
- Experience supporting students specifically in a distance/online learning setting.
