Salary: $126,300 - $174,700

What you will do
- Lead and develop controls/vision engineering team, including project assignments, coaching, performance feedback, and career development.
- Prioritize workload for multiple concurrent automation projects and provide end-to-end leadership from requirements to launch.
- Own procurement and launch of automation equipment, including RFQs, vendor reviews, runoffs, and buyoffs.
- Partner with product, plant, manufacturing engineering, and OEMs to align solutions and launch products.
- Diagnose manufacturing process issues using data-driven problem-solving to improve uptime, throughput, and quality.
- Maintain relationships with leadership and vendors, stay current on technologies like PLCs, robots, and vision systems, and ensure safety compliance.
Requirements
- 10–15 years in manufacturing engineering/automation with complex automated systems.
- 5+ years leading large end-to-end automation projects (specification, procurement, integration, launch, debug).
- Demonstrated people leadership (goal setting, coaching, performance reviews).
- Strong project management for cross-functional teams and vendors.
- Proven safety/risk management experience (risk assessments, LOTO, safeguarding).
- Automotive manufacturing experience in plant-floor automation/launches.
- Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or related; ability to work in plant environments.
Nice to have
- 7+ years leading complex controls projects and production launches.
- Direct plant commissioning/debug experience.
- Expertise in GM controls standards (GCCH, GCCS, etc.) and robotics/vision (Fanuc, Cognex, Rockwell/Siemens).
- Experience mentoring engineers on GM standards.
- Managing greenfield/brownfield projects in vehicle manufacturing.
