What you will do

• Serve as primary legal counsel for CFTC-registered entities, including DCM, DCO, and FCM.
• Manage regulatory engagement with the CFTC and NFA, handling examination responses, rule interpretations, and no-action relief requests.
• Advise on DCM core principles, DCO risk management standards, and FCM customer fund segregation requirements.
• Partner with product, engineering, and compliance teams to structure and launch new derivatives products like perpetual futures and options.
• Monitor regulatory developments, proposed rulemakings, and congressional activity to proactively guide the business.

Requirements

• Qualified attorney admitted to practice law in the United States.
• 12+ years of experience in financial services law with a strong concentration in CFTC regulation and CEA-registered entities.
• Deep substantive knowledge of the CEA and CFTC regulations (including Parts 38, 39, 1, 22, 30, 23, 45–50).
• Direct experience managing CFTC regulatory filings, rule submissions, or examination responses.
• Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical operational guidance for non-lawyer partners.
• Authentic interest in crypto and digital assets.

Nice to have

• Experience with CFTC oversight of digital asset derivatives and crypto-margined contracts.
• Knowledge of swap dealer registration, de minimis threshold analysis, and uncleared margin rules.
• Experience managing NFA audits or inquiries.
• Familiarity with non-US derivatives frameworks such as ESMA, FCA, or MAS.
